Amazon will start selling products from Monoprix, one of France’s biggest grocery store chains, through its Prime Now service, a move that will resonate through the country’s food retail industry.

The French retailer said the service, which launches this year, will be available in Paris. The service will be available via the Prime Now app, as well as online through a dedicated virtual store.

Since the e-commerce giant agreed to buy grocery chain Whole Foods last year for $13.7 billion, expectations that it could turn its attention next on Europe have encouraged French retailers to strategize on how to improve their own online offerings.
