Nintendo Switch just made records in terms of sales since its release last Friday, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime told reports. Fils-Aime revealed that the Nintendo Switch has sold quicker than any other Nintendo console in America alone, which is a remarkable performance of the gaming company.

According to Sam Reynolds, a gaming analyst, the first weekend sales for Nintendo Switch were "miles ahead" of the Wii, the Wii U, the N64 and the Game Cube. "While a solid launch for Nintendo in Japan is expected, what's even more impressive is its success in North America," He added.

In Japan, it was revealed that it was also a big hit, as sales began to pile up upon the release of the console. In the first three days, Nintendo in Japan has sold 330,000 units also beating its WiiU sales when it was released.

Similarly, sales in Europe projected a similar high. In the UK, Nintendo has sold 80,000 units upon its release. The gaming company is still to reveal official numbers, but as to when is still unclear. “ We can confirm that, across Europe, Nintendo Switch sold more in its launch weekend than any other Nintendo hardware in history.” Nintendo stated in a release.

Upon the release, Nintendo also launched titles such as, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild which is a best-selling Nintendo game franchise in Europe. “Launch title The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has not only been bestowed with some of the highest review scores in gaming history, it’s also the biggest-selling Nintendo launch title ever in Europe, even outselling Wii Sports in first weekend sales.”

Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been a highly commended game by critics and was named as one of the best games of the generation. "Switch's debut and Wii U's demise are marked by a radical reinvention of The Legend of Zelda that will go down as an all-time great," stated on a Eurogamer's gold-plated Zelda: Breath of the Wild review.

Some Post-launch Defects

The gaming console was not all positive however. The Switch has projected some faults such as the unit's dock scratches the screen and as well as the unrelenting Joy-Con disconnect problem.

Many of the customers have criticized the console about dead or stuck pixels in which they say create an off-putting and bothersome dark squares on their displays.

Nintendo in a release addressed the issue as "normal and should not be considered a defect".

Players also complained about the limited number of supported games with the console in which can also affect the sales in the long run. Nonetheless, Gaming industries will release more games for the console soon as most of them are still in development.
