Japan stocks inched higher in the course of Monday’s session after the market close, fueled by advancing shares in the sectors of the Paper & Pulp, Shipbuilding and Glass.
The Nikkei 225 added 1.39%, hitting a new session high for 1-month in late trade in Tokyo.
Among the best performers of the Nikkei 225 session were Unitika, Ltd., which rallied by about 6.67% or 4.0 points to changed hands at 64.0 in late trade. Taiheiyo Cement Corp. climbed 6.05% or 17.0 points to settle at 298.0 and Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. increased 5.90% or 67.0 points to end at 1202.0 at the close.
Furukawa Electric Co., is one of the worst performers of the session, which declined by about 1.11% or 3.0 points to changed hands at 267.0 in late trade. Chiyoda Corp. fell 1.01% or 8.0 points to settle at 784.0 and Showa Denko K.K. lost 0.88% or 1.0 points to end at 112.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered dropping ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange with a range between 1573 to 309 and 115 remained unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which gauges the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, increased by about 1.40% to 26.11.
Crude oil delivery for July declined 0.22% or 0.11, hitting $49.22 per barrel. In commodities trading, Brent oil delivery for August dropped 0.42% or 0.21 to end at $49.74 per barrel, while the Gold contract for August lost 0.77% or 9.35 to changed hands at $1207.35 a troy ounce.
Elsewhere, USD/JPY added 0.83% to 111.28, while EUR/JPY rallied 0.88% to 123.73.
The US Dollar Index rose 0.13% at 95.85.
Taiwan Stocks Rallied
Taiwan stocks climbed in the course of Monday’s session, boosted by advancing shares in the sectors of Biotech & Medical Care, Trading & Consumer Goods and Chemical/Bio & Medical care.
The Taiwan Weighted increased 0.85%, hitting a new session high for 1-month at the close in Taiwan.
Among the best performers of the Taiwan Weighted session were Cyberpower, which added 9.96% or 9.60 points to changed hands at 106.00 in late trade. Bionime climbed 9.89% or 4.60 points to settle at 51.10 and Hsin Ba Ba rallied 9.87% or 1.55 points to end at 17.25 at the close.
Candmark is one of the worst performers amid session, which declined by about 9.76% or 0.16 points to changed hands at 1.48 in late trade. Chateau lost 5.10% or 2.25 points to settle at 41.85 and Tainan Cayman dropped 4.57% or 0.09 points to 1.88 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange with a range between 519 to 225 and 109 remained unchanged.
Candmark stocks declined to all time lows, which has witnessed a 9.76% decline or 0.16 points to end at 1.48.
Meanwhile, crude oil delivery for July plunged 0.26% or 0.13 to settle at $49.20 per barrel. In commodities trading, Brent oil delivery for August lost 0.44% or 0.22 to end at $49.73 per barrel, while the Gold contract for August dropped 0.95% or 11.60 to changed hands at $1205.10 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD increased 0.40% to 32.654, while TWD/CNY rallied 0.30% to 0.2015.
The US Dollar Index surged 0.16% at 95.88.
